About Us

adirondack donutsThe Donut Shop of Eagle Bay has been an Adirondack Tradition for over forty-five years. We are Pat and Dave Rowe, owners of the shop since November 2003. At that time, since we relocated the decision was made to operate the shop year round. With that in mind, we started doing different things for the holidays throughout the year.

We have worked hard to continue to improve our little shop nestled in the woods of the great Adirondacks. We have added a breakfast sandwich and a great hot dog to our menu. Our subs are very different but once you have one, you will be hooked!

Many people ask, "How did you end up here?". It is easy to answer. Dave loved the Adirondacks and has "shared" that love with his family. We had camped at Eighth Lake for nearly eighteen years with Jonathan and Michael while they were growing up. Dave was a designer and Pat was a dietary supervisor for a nursing home. We had enough of the fast pace high stress life. The boys were gone and on their own. We talked about buying this shop around the campfires for 4 years. Finally, we decided it was time to go and check it out. We did it! And the rest is history. We are happy to be in place that we both love. Where else are there six seasons? (Winter, mud, spring, black fly, summer and fall.) We have enjoyed being a part of a wonderful, friendly community.

In the summer of 2008 we were proud to sell our 1,000,000th donut. John Nemjo from the Mountainman Outdoor Supply store had suggested that we keep track of the donuts we sold when we first bought the shop. He offered us a kayak as a prize when we sold the 1,000,000th donut. We thought about it and decided that it was a great idea. We put a sign up that asked, "How many" and the fun began. We updated it every week. On August 20th at 10:30 in the morning, we did it! Brian and Debbie Ferries of Brockport, New York were the lucky purchasers. They also won Donut Shop shirts.

We thought that we were excited when this happened, but then came the call that they were sending someone up to take a picture of the shop for a "Cat's Meow's" in the Old Forge area. This piece can be purchased from Souvenir Village in Old Forge.

Our website has been a great addition to the shop. Many people use it to order donuts for loved ones throughout the year. We have shipped donuts to twenty-five different states and Canada.

I can tell you that without a doubt, buying and operating The Donuts Shop has been the best time of our lives. We have met so many great people. Watching the children grow each year has been such a pleasure. It is great when Grandpa brings the grandkids and tells them they used to bring their mom or dad here when they were little. The stories and memories are wonderful to hear.
